Breathing with God Guided Meditation
I know, I know, I never stop talking about God as Mother. I think it’s because I realize increasingly how deep the wound is for me in terms of not feeling identified with the Divine in my femininity. So many other faith traditions have feminine representations of God. Representation matters, as they say. The patriarchy was incredibly successful as stamping out female role models within Christianity and then making anything other than what they deemed to be true “heresy.” I recently had a woman send me a DM that said, “All of Jesus’ disciples were men. The women were behind the scenes doing what women do best. There isn’t a book published in the New Testament that’s knowingly written by a woman.”
That message has lived rent-free in my head for a while now. That second sentence, WOOF. I feel pretty passionate about restoring the divine feminine in the Christian tradition, not in a "woo woo" out there way, but in an incredibly grounded in Christian orthodoxy way. This meditation is an intimate practice, you don’t even have to imagine God as a mother in this one, just let your imagination go as you breathe into God and allow God to breathe into you.
